IN SEARCH OF PARADISE / ALLA RICERCA DEL PARADISO
Photographs from a distant world 1967/1979

Curated by Matteo Giacomelli

Mostra Search of Paradise.

The exhibition presents, through a selection of original vintage prints, the search for ideals and happiness that between the sixties and seventies gave shape to new ways of being and imagining beyond disciplines, languages, utopia and political action.

It starts from the Paradise Now show of the Living Theater in 1969 between happening and action, a new way of managing relationships and the body, between us and others.

The Diggers of Soho offer a life free from need based on barter, while Allen Ginsberg and Timothy Leary offer alternative forms of existence dedicated to poetry and psychedelia.
Others will found new city-communities such as Paolo Soleri's Arcosanti (1972), conceived outside traditional urbanism in the Arizona desert, or will adopt Buckminster Fuller's geodesic domes as housing forms.
Christo will work from 1970 to 1972 on an environmental work in the Grand Hoback in Colorado, lasting a few moments, documented by Shunk-Kender's photography.

In Tokyo, the student movement Zengakuren will create a synthesis of body and action in the riots of the '67 - '68 witnessed by Japanese news agencies.
In Franco Brocani's film Necropolis (1970), with Carmelo Bene and Pierre Clementi, the search for the lost myth takes place through the encounter with emblematic figures of history.

EXHIBITION: FROM 21 OCTOBER TO 22 DECEMBER 2017
